A chandelier can place different demands on its support and wiring than the light it replaces. Its weight, dimensions, mounting instructions and ceiling height help determine how the installation should be approached.

What affects the installation

• The fixture’s weight and the support required at the ceiling.
• Ceiling height, slope and access for the work.
• The existing electrical box, wiring and switch arrangement.
• Bulb, driver and dimmer compatibility.
• Assembly, removal and finish-repair responsibilities.

An existing ceiling box is not automatically suitable for a heavier fixture. High ceilings may introduce additional access requirements. Those details belong in the project scope, not as assumptions on installation day.

Lighting controls should match the fixture

If you want dimming, tell us about the fixture and the control you plan to use. A mismatched dimmer, lamp or driver can cause poor operation. Related switch work may be part of the installation.
