Replacement fixtures or a new layout

Replacing an existing fixture may involve checking its support, wiring and controls. Adding lights in new positions can require a wiring route, access above or behind finished surfaces and an agreement about any finish repairs.

• Proposed fixtures, lamps and mounting requirements.
• Wall switches, dimmers, timers or other controls.
• Access, ceiling height and exposure to moisture or weather.

Outdoor locations need suitable equipment

Fixtures and connections must suit their actual location. A covered porch and an exposed outdoor area can have different requirements. Landscape and other exterior work also need a review of the supply and wiring route.

Electrical power for seasonal lighting is not the same as a decorating service. Tell us the electrical work you need so the scope is clear.

Can I add a dimmer to an existing light?

Can a heavier fixture use the existing ceiling box?
